Lauterbrunnen valley

Summary: ~1:45 from Zurich, easy paved trail about 2 miles or longer if you want, stroller-friendly, free

Last time we visited the Berner Oberland, we camped in the Lauterbrunnen valley and spent one morning just walking from our camp down the valley. It was one of the most beautiful walks I've taken. It was also super fun with our kids because it was paved the whole way and the kids could ride their scooters. Great for bikes or strollers too. You can walk as far as you want down this road and simply ride the bus back into town when you get tired. We walked about 2 miles to the Sandbach bus station near the Trummelbach Falls. This is a great option if you're staying in the area and need something low key to fill up your day.

To find the road/trail, drive through town to Camping Jungfrau (when the main road takes a sharp left, you will continue start to the campground). Park just outside the campground (there are a few spaces up there) and just start walking down the road. There might be an occasional vehicle on the road, so don't let your kids get too far away from you. But for the most part, it's traffic-free.

it was so fun to wake up to this

you don't have to go up a gondola to enjoy the mountain peaks

lots of little waterfalls along the way
