Strasbourg, France

approaching the massive Strasbourg cathedral

Strasbourg, France is a lovely Alsatian town, a little over 2 hour drive from Zürich. Darling half-timbered building line the streets. The main cathedral is very dramatic. The bakeries are omnipresent and delicious. Here are some reasons it can be fun for kids.

no shortage of yummy treats in this town - every other store seems to be a bakery or chocolate shop

lots of wide open spaces for running about

an elaborate carousel seems to be a normal fixture of many French towns

they seemed to like kids in this town - our quiet little non-touristy restaurant whipped up this dessert for our 4yr old

a super cute and friendly (read: free samples) candy store right in front of the cathedral

in summer when the water isn't too high, you can take a boat down the river

to get a better view, you can climb up some stairs (no elevators for strollers) to this lookout over the "Petite France" neighborhood

here's the view so you can decide if it's worth it

strolling along the river in "Petite France", a little precarious for toddlers
