The Pumpkin Farm

A nice day or half-day trip from Zurich is to the Jucker Farm, about a half hour drive from Zurich (in the direction of Uster). I've been twice during pumpkin season, and it was a lot of fun, as well as beautiful. This is what I wrote about it last time we went (October 9 2005):

"Traditional farm buildings, flowers everywhere, view over a lovely lake, lots of pumpkins, gourds, apples for sale and on display. Bratwurst and ice cream stands. Trampolines for children. A playground made simply of piled up bales of hay was the favorite attraction among children there.

A six-year old girl by the name of Sofia took charge of Leonore and helped her climb up the highest bales of hay. And there were animals to watch (or to feed leaves to, as Leonore methodically tried to do): small pink or black hairy pigs, goats, poneys, horses, cows... A real harvest holiday."

Check out their website as they have different types of events for different seasons.

PS: They actually had a European pumpkin contest. Here I am posing in 2004 (the day before giving birth to Celia) next to the winner... hard to tell which one is the pumpkin, right?

  2. Don't worry, the pictures are great. Just use the small thumbnails if you use a lot.
